Working with bookmarks
Lotus Notes 6, through a variety of tasks, lets you easily customize and efficiently manage your bookmarks and bookmark folders.

You can select multiple bookmarks and/or bookmark folders, and then delete them, drag and drop them, or open them. Within Bookmarks, items do not have to be adjacent to one another to be selected at the same time.

Create a bookmarkYou can do any of the following:
  • Right-click a document and choose Create Bookmark.
  • Drag a window tab to the Bookmark bar, to a bookmark folder, or to the Bookmark list.
  • Drag a database icon on the workspace to the Bookmark bar or a bookmark folder.
  • In a Notes database, choose Create - Bookmark.
  • If you are using the Notes browser or Notes with Internet Explorer, drag a Web page link, which appears as a window tab when you open a Web site, to the Bookmark bar, folder, or list.
Open a bookmark or bookmark folderClick the bookmark or the bookmark folder.
Open a bookmark in a new windowRight-click the bookmark and choose "Open in New Window."
Select multiple, non-adjacent bookmarks or bookmark folders Press CTRL and then click the bookmarks or folders you want to select.
Select multiple, adjacent bookmarks or bookmark foldersPress SHIFT and click the first and last items of the adjacent bookmarks or folders you want to select.
Copy and paste a bookmark as a link
  1. Right-click an existing bookmark or window tab and choose "Copy Bookmark to Clipboard."
  2. Choose Edit - Paste to paste the bookmark link into a document.

Tip On the Bookmark workspace, you can copy and paste a bookmark icon, for example to duplicate it in another folder, by pressing SHIFT+CTRL while dragging the icon.
Move a bookmark Click a bookmark and drag it to the Bookmark bar. to another folder, or to the place within the same folder where you want it to be.
Locate a bookmark using the keyboard
  1. Click a bookmark folder icon in the Bookmark bar.
  2. When the bookmark list appears, pin it open.
  3. If you want to search within a folder, expand it. Type the first letter or two of the bookmark you want to search for. Notes selects the first bookmark beginning with those letters.
  4. Press ENTER to open the bookmark.

Note Refer to the status bar for information regarding your search.
Create a bookmark folder
  1. Right-click an existing Bookmark folder and choose "New Folder," or click the folder icon at the top of the Bookmark list.
  2. Enter a name for the folder in the "Folder name" field and then select a location for the new folder. You can place this folder within an existing folder.
Remove a bookmark or bookmark folderRight-click the bookmark or Bookmark folder and choose "Remove Bookmark" or "Remove Folder."

Note When you remove a bookmark folder you remove all of the bookmarks in that folder.

Display databases that can be opened upon startupDrag the window tabs of the databases to be opened into the Startup folder inside the More Bookmarks folder.
Create a replicaYou can do either of the following:
  • Drag a bookmark that represents a database and drop it on the Replicator icon.
  • Drag a database icon from the workspace and drop it on the Replicator icon.
Note Dragging a database onto the Replicator icon automatically opens the Replicator page.
Remove a replica for a database
  1. Right-click the bookmark and choose Open Replica - Manage List.
  2. In the dialog box, select the replica and click Remove.
Rename a bookmark or Bookmark folder
  1. Right-click the bookmark or Bookmark folder and choose "Rename Bookmark" or "Rename Folder."
  2. Enter a new name for the bookmark or bookmark folder.
Change the bookmark icon size on the Bookmark bar
  1. Choose File - Preferences - User Preferences (Macintosh OS X users, Notes - Preferences - User Preferences).
  2. Click Basics.
  3. Under Display Options, choose a size from the "Bookmark icon size" list.
  4. Restart Notes to see your changes.

  1. Click the View button at the top of the Bookmark list to open the Bookmark menu.
  2. Choose "No Icons," "Small Icons," "Medium Icons," or "Large Icons."
Change the bookmark icon color scheme on the Bookmark bar
  1. Choose File - Preferences - User Preferences.
  2. Click Basics.
  3. Under Display Options, choose a color scheme in the "Icon color scheme" list.
  4. Restart Notes to see your changes.
Change a bookmark icon or a Bookmark folder icon
  1. Right-click the bookmark or Bookmark folder and choose "Change Bookmark Icon" or "Change Folder Icon."
  2. Select an icon from the list of available options in the "Insert Image Resource" dialog box.
Show which servers your bookmarks point to or the number of unread documents in a bookmarked database
  1. Click the View button at the top of the Bookmark list to open the Bookmark menu.
  2. Choose "Show Unread Document Count" or "Show Server Names."
Restore your bookmarks to their default arrangement on the bar. For example, if you have removed the History folder, this restores it.
  1. Click the View button at the top of the Bookmark list to open the Bookmark menu.
  2. Choose "Restore Defaults."
